Borthwick Floors™ retails a wide range of re-milled Australian hardwoods and softwoods species including wideboard flooring and overlay flooring.
Our recycled timber floorboards are professionally removed from buildings due for demolition or renovation - buildings such as houses, schools, wool stores and factories. In many cases, these floorboards have a fascinating history and served a useful purpose in an earlier life! Much of the old MCG wooden seating was reclaimed into Tallowood strip flooring. Many historic buildings and factories are being dismantled and their wood used in recycled wood flooring.
Old growth timbers have matured over many years, offering a unique and beautiful appearance as well as a more dense and tight grain that is not available with newer growth trees. The result is a very strong and durable timber.
Some of our timber is also recovered wood from fallen trees. This is often higher quality than recycled (used) wood as it has no nail holes and other blemishes from past use.
Recycling and reclaiming timber is another way of helping the environment by reducing the amount of wasted material, and also minimises carbon emissions through prolonging the life of the timber.
